G is for Gorilla

Twenty children and ten adults attended story hour today. Today we learned that gorilla starts with the letter G. Our first story today was

Gorilla! Gorilla! by Jeanne Willis This story is about a mother mouse who lost her baby. While searching for her baby, she comes across a gorilla. The mouse gets scared and runs. The gorilla chases the mouse all around the world until she finally stops and he can give her baby back to her!  After the story we sang "Shake my Sillies Out." We shake, clap, jump, and yawn to get all our energies out, so we can sit for our next story

Little Gorilla by Ruth Bornstein This story is about a baby gorilla that grows up to be a big gorilla. After the story, we worked with patterns. We used gorillas and bananas to make up different patterns. Our last story for the day was

Playtime? by Jeff Mack This book is a nearly wordless book about a little boy who is trying to put his gorilla to sleep. The gorilla however, has a different idea. He wants to play. Our craft today was turning the letter G into a gorilla. Next weeks theme is W is for winter.
