Just Ducky

We had 13 children and 7 adults at story hour this morning. Our theme today was ducks with Easter around the corner. Our first story was

10 Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle Ten little rubber ducks are dropped into the sea. As they all float off in different directions, they meet with different animals. The last rubber duck is carried home with a family of ducks. After the story, we pretended to be ducks. We ran, jumped, swam, and quacked our way back home. Our next story was

Pete the Cat Five Little Ducks by James Dean Five little ducks go out to play with Pete the cat. One by one as the day goes on the ducks leave Pete. Until, they all rejoin him with a special gift. After the story we sang a song about ducks, birds, and flowers in the spring time. The song was to the tune of "Wheels on the bus." Our last story today was

The Chick and the Duckling by Mirra Ginsburg Duckling hatches and goes off to explore. Little chick is right behind him in everything he does. Until, little chick learns that he can't swim and is saved by little duckling. Our craft today was to make duck finger puppets. I hid some eggs in the library this morning, so after the craft I sent them off to find one egg. Next weeks theme is BUBBLES!
