Easter Chicks

Our theme today was chicks. We had 16 children and 7 adults today at story hour. Our first story today was

Whose Chick Are You? by Nancy Tafuri A little chick has hatched, but the hen, duck, goose, and bird don't know who it belongs to. After the story we pretended to be chicks and said a rhyme called "Little Chick, Little Chick" We flapped our wings, reached down to our toes, jumped up high, and danced a jig. Our next story was

Hurry! Hurry! by Eve Bunting This story is about a little chick who is about to hatch. All the barnyard animals rush to watch the chick hatch. After the story we sang "Easter Egg Hokey Pokey" and "I know a Chicken" by Laurie Berkner Band. Each child was given a shaker egg to shake during these songs. Our last story today was

The Easter Chick by Geraldine Elschner This story is about a baby chick that doesn't want to hatch until Easter morning because he wants to be an Easter chick. After the story we went outside for an Eater egg hunt in the park next door. The children got to find three eggs. Next weeks theme is Earth Day.
