Gingerbread Cookies

We had 14 children and 8 adults attend story hour today. Our theme today was gingerbread cookies and we all agreed that cookies are quite tasty. Our first book was

The Gingerbread Girl by Lisa Ernst This story is just like the gingerbread boy except that the gingerbread girl outsmarts the fox in the end. After the story we recited a couple rhymes. The first one was "Five Little Gingerbread Men." We pretended to hop of the tray and run away. The next rhyme was " Up, Down, Fast, Slow." This rhyme was used to settle the children back down to hear another story. Our next story was

Gingerbread Friends by Jan Brett This story is about a Gingerbread Baby who is lonely for friends to play with. One day he goes out in search of friends. While he is away the little boy Mattie is cooking something up in the kitchen. Will the Gingerbread Baby find any friends to play with? After the story, we pretended to make a batch of gingerbread cookies. Instead of a craft today the children were able to frost and eat their own gingerbread cookies. Next weeks theme is Toys!
