M is for Mouse

We had a smaller group today of 13 children and 7 adults. Our letter today was the letter M for mouse. Our first story today was a favorite of mine when  I was little

The Little Mouse The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear by Audrey Wood This is a story about a mouse who picks a strawberry and tries different things to keep it away from the big hungry bear. After the story we recited the well known nursery rhyme "Hickory, Dickory, Dock." Our fingers were the mouse and our bodies the clock. We ran our fingers up, clapped when the clock struck, and ran our fingers back down again. Our next story was a cut and tell story called

Nibble Nibble This story is about a mouse who nibbles on a little something that fell into his hole. While telling the story I would cut pieces off a folded piece of paper. At the end we found out what the mouse was nibbling on by unfolding the paper. We discovered a snowflake! We then did another rhyme called bouncy mouse. We bounced around a bit and then settled down for our last story.

Thanksgiving Mice! by Bethany Roberts The story of Thanksgiving is retold by some mice that are putting on a play.  After the story we talked a little about Thanksgiving and then headed to the tables to make our craft. We turned the letter M into a Mouse! Next, weeks theme is G for Gorilla.

Happy Thanksgiving!
