S is for Snowman

We had 23 children and 9 adults for story hour today.  Our letter today was the letter S is for snowman. Our first story was

All You Need for a Snowman by Alice Schertle This story is about some children who are making a snowman and all the things that are needed to do so. After the story we sang "I'm a Friendly Snowman." We sang through the song a second time because the first time through was pretty rough. Our next story was a draw and tell story.

The story was about three siblings. Two of the siblings go outside to play in the snow, while the other stays inside and then makes a surprise. The surprise turns out to be a snowman, which is what is drawn while telling the story. After the story we did a matching activity with snowman and their hats. We reviewed all the letters we have done so far.  After this activity we didn't have time or the attention span for our last book, so we went straight to our craft. We turned the letter S into a Snowman. Next weeks theme is J is for Jingle Bells.
