St. Patrick's Day

We had 11 children and 4 adults at story hour. Today we talked about St. Patrick's Day and Leprechauns. Our first story today was

That's What Leprechauns Do by Eve Bunting This story follows three Leprechauns on their way to the end of the rainbow; where they set out a pot of gold and wait for someone to find it. After the story we sang "St. Patrick's Day Song" to the tune of "If Your Happy and you Know It." If you were wearing green you danced, clapped, twirled, and stamped. Our next story was

The Night Before St. Patrick's Day by Natasha Wing This story is about a brother and sister who make leprechaun traps in hopes of catching a leprechaun. For if you catch a leprechaun, it must tell you where its pot of gold is hidden. After the story we went on a leprechaun hunt. We waded through grass, climbed a tree, swam across a river, and tip toed into a cave. Our last story today was

Ten Lucky Leprechauns by Kathryn Heling This story is good for learning the numbers 1-10. The story counts up to ten leprechauns. For our craft today the kids got to use paint! We used orange paint and forks to make the leprechauns hair and beard. Next weeks theme is Rainbows.
