We had a smaller group this week with 13 children and 7 adults.  Our theme today was tractors and about half of the kids had rode in a tractor before. Some have even gotten to drive the tractor! Our first story today was

Grandpa's Tractor by Michael Garland This story is about how important tractors are and what they are used for on the farm. After the story we sang "This Old Tractor" to the tune of "This Old Man." The recording of this song goes pretty quickly so it was tough to get all the actions in. Our next story was

The Gobble, Gobble, Moo Tractor Book by Jez Alborough This is a fun book where all the barnyard animals take the farmers tractor for a "ride." The animals make all the different sounds that a tractor make when its running until they wake up farmer Dougal. After the story we sang "Farm Work" to the tune of "Mary had a Little Lamb." We pretended to feed the pigs, mile the cows, stack the hay, gather the eggs, and pick the bean and corn. Our last story for today was

Chug Chug Tractor by Dawn Sirett This is a fun lift the flap book about tractors working on the farm. Our craft today was to use colored squares of paper to make a tractor picture.  The theme for next week is families.
